Privacy Policy

bluewing is an app for building social confidence. It helps you break situations you want to feel more comfortable in into small, gradual steps, practice them, and track how each attempt went. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. In this policy, “bluewing”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to GRABBY ALIEN VENTURES LLC, the maker of the bluewing app and the company responsible for the information described here. Information we collect

  • Account information.You sign in with Apple or Google, or with an email address and password. When you use Apple or Google we receive your email address and, where available, your name. We never see your Apple or Google password. If you use Sign in with Apple's “Hide My Email” feature, we only receive a private relay address.
  • Profile information.The name and profile picture your sign-in provider gives us, where available. Today these are shown only to you, inside the app. If we add profile features later, anything you choose to add — such as a display name, a photo or avatar, or a short description of yourself — would be optional, and may be shown to other bluewing users alongside what you publish.
  • The content you create. The steps and plans you build; any ratings you set; the predictions and notes you record; the logs of how each attempt went and what you took away from it; your practice sessions; and the situations and reflections you write down. This content is private to your account unless you choose to publish it.
  • Content you send to AI features.Some features use AI to help you — for example, generating a step-by-step plan from a situation you describe. When you use one, we process the text or other content you provide to produce the result. See AI-powered features below for how this works.
  • Community content. If you publish a step or plan to the shared library, or post a comment or reaction, that content is visible to other bluewing users. The library is anonymous: what you publish is not shown to other users with your name, picture, or other identifying details. We do link it to your account internally, so you can manage and remove what you published. We may later add features that identify who published something, such as profiles or author names.
  • Subscription and purchase information. If you buy something, the payment itself is handled by the app store or a payment processor. We never receive or store your full payment-card details. We and our subscription and payment providers receive information about your purchase — such as what you bought, your subscription and renewal status, transaction identifiers, and limited billing information — so we can give you access to paid features.
  • Usage and analytics data.We collect information about how you use the app — such as screens viewed, features used, and events like creating a step, logging an attempt, or recording a situation. These events are linked to your account and describe what you did in the app rather than what you wrote: we don't routinely include the free text of your notes, plans, or the content you send to AI features in them. We may access that content where we need it to run the Service — for example to look into a support request you send us, debug a problem, review reported content, or check the quality and safety of our AI features.
  • Device and diagnostic data. Like most apps, we receive standard technical information such as your device model, operating system, app version, language, app and device identifiers, IP address, and crash or error logs. We use this to operate the app, fix bugs, and keep it secure.

AI-powered features

Some features of bluewing use AI — for example, generating a step-by-step plan from a situation you describe. Your content and related information may be processed by third-party providers that support our AI features. Their handling of your content, including how long they retain it, is governed by their own data-usage and retention policies.

We process your AI inputs and outputs to provide the AI feature you requested. We may review limited interactions when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, address a support request, diagnose a technical problem, or evaluate safety. We do not use identifiable AI inputs or outputs to train generalized AI models. We do not use them to improve bluewing's AI features unless you separately opt in or the information has been de-identified.

How we use your information

  • To provide the app and save your progress.
  • To power AI features when you use them.
  • To power community features when you choose to use them (publishing, comments, reactions).
  • To sell, provide, and manage subscriptions and paid features.
  • To understand how the app is used, and to improve and develop new features.
  • To diagnose problems, keep the service secure, and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • To send you service-related messages, such as account and sign-in emails, and — where permitted — product updates, tips, reminders, and offers. Where we send promotional messages, you will be able to opt out of them at any time.
  • Where we run marketing campaigns, to attribute app installs and in-app events to them, measure their performance, and prevent fraud.
  • To advertise and market bluewing, including measuring advertising performance and reaching people on third-party platforms — subject to your consent and your platform settings where those apply.
  • To comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Two limits apply to the content you create — your plans, notes, reflections, practice logs, situations, and AI interactions.

We use that content for analytics, research, or general product improvement only in aggregated or de-identified form, unless you separately consent to another use. This does not limit our use of that content to provide the app to you, respond to a support request, investigate a report, keep the service secure, or comply with the law.

We do not use or disclose that content for targeted advertising.

How we share information

We share information with the service providers who help us run bluewing, and only as needed for them to provide their service to us. These fall into a few categories, and we may add or change specific providers within them over time:

  • Sign-in providers— Apple and Google, when you choose one to log in.
  • Authentication and hosting— providers (such as Supabase and our server host) that handle login, send account emails, and run the servers and database that store your account and content.
  • Payments and subscriptions— the Apple App Store and Google Play process payments, RevenueCat manages our subscriptions and entitlements, and if you buy directly from us, the payment processor handling that purchase.
  • Customer support and communications — the providers that help us receive and answer your support requests and send the emails and notifications described above.
  • Analytics and diagnostics— PostHog, which we use for product analytics and to understand and improve how the app is used.
  • AI providers— the providers (currently OpenAI) that support our AI features and the content processed by them.
  • Advertising and measurement— advertising networks, measurement and attribution partners, and social media platforms, which may receive event, device, identifier, and contact information to attribute installs, measure and optimize campaign performance, prevent fraud, and reach people on their platforms.

We may also share information to comply with the law or valid legal requests, to protect our rights and the safety of our users, and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep your data

We retain information for as long as we determine it is relevant to the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the Services, advertising, analytics, research, preventing fraud and abuse, establishing or defending legal claims, and complying with legal obligations. We do not commit to any particular retention period or deletion timeframe, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

You can delete your account using the account-deletion option in the app. This deletes your bluewing account and private content from our active application systems.

Certain information may remain after account deletion. This may include analytics and diagnostic information maintained by us or our service providers; information stored temporarily in backups and logs; and records retained where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute resolution, or legal compliance. We may also retain aggregated or de-identified information that can no longer reasonably be associated with you, and may use it for any lawful purpose, including improving bluewing and publishing or sharing what we learn.

Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you the right to request deletion of additional personal information that is not removed through the in-app account-deletion process. To submit a privacy request, contact us at privacy@getbluewing.com. We will review and respond to valid requests and will delete personal information, or direct our service providers to delete it, where required by applicable law and subject to applicable exceptions.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing (for example under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA). You can access and edit most of your information directly in the app, delete individual entries, and delete your account using the account-deletion option described above. For any other request, including a request to delete personal information that the in-app option does not remove, email us at privacy@getbluewing.com and we'll help. We won't discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Not a medical or professional service

bluewing is a personal-development tool for building social confidence. It is not a medical, psychological, or other professional service, is not a medical device, and does not provide diagnosis, treatment, or professional advice. It supports, but does not replace, care from a qualified professional. If you need professional or urgent help, please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services.

Children and minors

bluewing is intended for adults. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it and close the account.

International users

bluewing is operated from the United States, and your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have different data-protection laws than where you live. Where required, we take steps to protect your information when it's transferred.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the app and our servers. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

Changes to this policy

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date above. Please check back frequently to ensure you have reviewed the most recent version of this Privacy Policy.
